Essenso Lab's first product 'DZO' is in beta phase now.
Dzo is general purpose High Volume Data compressor/decompressor with Essenso's unique dedup engine. It aims to bring the benefits of Data Deduplication into the regular day-to-day compression tasks.
It incorporates many breakthrough technologies like Positions Encoded Data(PED) and new digest calculation technique with Content Aware model, which enables Dzo to delivers 3X better compression at 3X better speed, thus resulting in 9X improvement while transferring such data over internet.

Interesting concept, indeed better than all others and nice & easy UI. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI tried the trial version of Dzo on multiple files & folders in my laptop.
ReplyDeleteIt worked wonderfully well for MS Office docs
I tried to compress a folder containing lot of different types of office files (total size 269 MB)
Dzo = 75.45 MB was pretty fast
Winzip = 182 MB took a bit longer
Winrar = 160 MB ,,, was damn slow & took more than a minute
I didn't use a stop watch to measure the exact compression time, but the time-difference was very visible
Then i tried compressing a single pdf file
original = 8.2 MB
winzip = 7.4 MB
Winrar = 6.8 MB
Dzo = 6.3 MB
time difference not much though
Then i tried to compress a folder containing around 100 images & videos (total size 566 MB)
Dzo increased the size to 575MB and took almost 60 seconds
Winzip also increased total size to 574MB & took around 20 secs
So what i understand this doen't work well for images & videos
But full marks to Dzo for other data files which take lot of space on my hardrive.
Usability-wise it was fairly intuitive. I am not an IT-geek. Dzo was very easy to install and use. One suggestion though - it would be helpful if u can also create a desktop quick launch icon after installation.
I am looking forward to the final version now
Some of my heavy files are waiting to be Dzoed !
